embrace self-doubt

You may have small things in your life that you have decided to put off until you feel more confident in yourself. Maybe you’ve put off going on a date or you’ve decided to wait another year before you try out for a team sport. If you wait for the perfect time, it will never come around.

If you want to improve your self-confidence, you may need to do things outside of your comfort zone that you’re too afraid to do. You may feel as though you’ll embarrass yourself or you’ll get rejected, but the only way to know for sure is to try. Once you go outside your comfort zone, you may find that no matter what happens, the experience helps your confidence grow.

be honest with yourself

There are many different factors that can contribute to a feeling of low confidence, and one way to improve those feelings is to be honest with yourself. For example, if someone asks you a question about yourself and you’re feeling unsure whether or not to answer with the truth, it could be a clue of where you can start to improve. In this situation, you need to think about why you’re hesitant to answer the question. Are you embarrassed about your answer or afraid the other person will judge your answer? Do you know that your answer isn’t socially acceptable? In either case, you need to take a moment to be honest with yourself. You can own up to your answer and be proud of who you are, or you can use this experience as an excuse to change your behavior so that you are more proud of who you are.

In most cases, exercise and eating right are suggestions for people who are trying to lose weight and get in shape. However, exercise isn’t just for those who are looking for a weight loss solution; it can also be a great way to help you feel confident and healthy in your own body. It’s common knowledge that working out releases endorphins, which naturally make you feel happier and more energized. Making the decision to exercise regularly for your health instead of for the purpose of weight loss may help improve your overall mood and give you a boost in self-confidence!

set achievable goals

Rejection and failure are common sources of low self-confidence, and once you feel like rejection is inevitable, you may be less willing to complete certain tasks. A great way to help you move past the feeling of rejection is to set yourself up for success. Take some time to set small, achievable goals for yourself, such as cleaning the dishes right after you cooked a meal instead of letting them sit in the sink, or even going out with friends after months of saying no. When you set these small goals and actually follow through, then you’ll start to feel like you are successful, which can directly translate to your self-confidence.

transform your inner voice

Another reason you may have low self-confidence is because there is a voice in your head that is feeding your negative information. We all have this voice from time to time, but in some, this voice is more prominent than in others.

This tiny voice can put you down and make you feel inferior, but only if you let it. Next time you hear the negative thoughts in your head, take a second to try and understand where they are coming from. You can also try to develop another voice that is much more reasonable than the negative voice, encouraging positive thoughts instead of negative. As you get better about shutting out the negative inner voice and counteracting it with something positive, you may notice that over time, it starts to disappear.
