Meet karuna: Your Guide to a Healthier, Happier Life

“One of the secrets to inner peace is the practice of compassion.”

~His Holiness, the Dalai Lama

Do you ever go through life feeling stuck and unsure what you’re doing with yourself? Are you desperately looking for inner peace and not finding it? Perhaps you feel like you’re surviving rather than thriving. It could also be that you’re feeling great about where you are in life and are simply seeking more opportunities for connection and growth. We all know that life can be tough—especially in the current climate. Whatever your situation is, karuna might be just what you need to get over the hump and take the next steps towards health, happiness, and fulfillment.

Meet karuna

karuna is a social movement. It is a community. It is a collection of experiences that enrich the mind, body, and spirit. It is pure consciousness present in every human being.

The name “Karuna” comes from the Sanskrit term for the compassionate desire to remove suffering. With this in mind, the mission behind karuna is to make the world a happier, healthier, and more peaceful place in which we heal individual and collective suffering by unleashing compassion. It is our firm belief that not only is this possible, but that it is our purpose to work together to co-create this world. Individual and collective experiences cannot be separated from each other. Instead, they go hand in hand. When one relieves the suffering of another, they in turn relieve their own suffering. And likewise, when one takes care of oneself, one is better able to give back and serve others. It is important to note, however, that suffering does not imply brokenness. It is simply part of the human experience. Whether you realize it or not, you are already whole. karuna is here to help you embrace and unleash your wholeness.

karuna is a social enterprise centered around three pillars: science, transformation, and impact. We offer hands-on digital programs led by experienced guides on love and sexuality, life purpose, inner peace, and grief and loss. Let’s explore what a karuna journey looks like.

Science: We believe that science can offer us insight into our suffering and our yearning for inner peace. All of our offerings are based upon evidence-based scientific research and practices that blend ancient wisdom and Western psychology, especially in the areas of positive psychology, happiness and wellbeing studies, and the mind-body connection. Our programs are rooted in the growing body of research that demonstrates that when we start asking what is right with us instead of what is wrong with us, we can radically improve our mental health and wellbeing. As a leader and active participant in the positive psychology movement, we have a scientific advisory board made up of accomplished researchers from some of the most acclaimed institutions around the world. Each karuna program begins with an explanation of the scientific evidence behind the experiences on which participants embark.

Transformation: Each karuna program encompasses transformational experiences built upon the ACCESS360 framework, where access stands for awareness, connection, creativity, engagement, spirituality, and sustainability and 360 stands for our mission to spread happiness 360 degrees. Awareness refers to being in a state of mindfulness and presence—connecting with each of the senses. Connection builds relationships and healthy communication. With connection, we learn to respond rather than react. Creativity encourages us to try new things and expand our comfort zone. Engagement means losing all sense of time and ego—being completely immersed and in a state of flow. Spirituality connects us with something bigger than ourselves. And sustainability gives us the resilience to continue our journey of personal growth. Within these six channels, each led by a different guide, are hands-on learning opportunities that unlock personal transformation.

Impact: karuna is not just about empowering individuals, but also communities and society at large. To this end, 10% of all sales and 50% of all net profits are redirected to the karuna happiness foundation, which will invest in the empowerment of youth and women, early childhood education, and wellbeing research. Currently, 736 million people worldwide live in extreme poverty, 385 million of whom are children. Together we can bring both numbers closer to 0. Addressing each of these issue areas is critical to breaking the vicious cycle of poverty and abuse and to providing every human on the planet the tools to prosper and live their best lives. Participation in karuna’s programs is therefore an investment not only in yourself, but also in the greater good and in the flourishing of all of humanity.

Wherever you find yourself on your personal journey, karuna is here to support you. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to take ownership of your happiness and wellbeing with karuna. Your happiness lives here. Welcome home!
